INTERVIEW: Rosie Maxhimer
Meet Rosie, the self-proclaimed “full-time mom and part-time everything else”! Rosie is a color, fun, travel, family, fashion, and sweet treat loving mom of two. We could spend all day going through her fun recipes and life hacks on her website, thesweetmamalife.com! Rosie opened up to us with some advice from her mother, and some of her personal reminders-to-self.
What advice were you given growing up that you’ll definitely pass along to your children?
“Boys are bad, but B’s are good” ... haha ok, let me explain. As a kid, I was obsessed with only getting A’s in school. My mom was trying to let me know to not put so much pressure on myself. That being the best or getting the best grade wasn’t worth the anxiety, that B’s were just as good, if not better, if it meant more inner peace! The “boys are bad” part, was kinda a joke, but also a reminder to not worry about the more vain things in life in order to get someone’s attention, like a boy ;) To not worry about impressing someone else, but rather impress yourself! I will absolutely be passing all of these sentiments on to my two daughters!
What’s the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?
Oh gosh, Patience!!!! And I’m still a work in progress!! Patience with myself, with others, and especially patience with the tiny cute dictators I call my children;)
What is your favorite summer memory?
Taking our little girls to the beach for the first time and watching their expressions when tiny waves came up to touch their toes ;)
What is something that you wear well?
I think I wear motherhood well. But that does not mean I wear motherhood like a perfectly tailored couture gown. Nope. I wear it more like a dress I found at Target. Not the sleekest, could use some minor adjustments, but heck I wear it with devotion and confidence and love! (P.S. no disrespect Target, you know I love you ;)
What is the best piece of self-care advice you’ve received?
Sometimes as busy moms we feel selfish taking time for self-care. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. By taking care of ourselves, we are better able to take care of others.
