We love taking family vacations to Hawaii. In fact, it was on the sandy beaches here that I was inspired to design my first swimsuit style in my first collection of women’s swimwear!

Hawaii is a magical place. As soon as you land and step off the airplane, a warm tropical breeze embraces you, welcoming you to your vacation destination. In days past, you were also welcomed and greeted with a traditional Hawaiian Leis, fresh and fragrant, placed over your head to wear like a necklace. This beautiful tradition has sadly been halted because of some new regulations; I hope it is temporary because this greeting truly evokes the spirit of Hawaii.

This island is lush with dark green vegetation, and you can always count on tropical rainfall at any time to cool you off a bit. And the bonus? Amazing rainbows highlighting the sky adding to the beauty of this Garden Island.

So, you ask, “Which Hawaiian Island?”

Our favorite Hawaiian island is the island of Kauai. It’s a small island with tropical rainforests, huge cliffs, rivers, and waterfalls, not to mention some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is because of this natural beauty and authentic small towns that the island of Kauai has been the home to many of Hollywood’s film crews while shooting classic films here. Truly a treasure worth exploring…

We like to stay on the south side of the island on Poipu Beach. It’s sunnier and a bit warmer here and the waves gentler than those the more experienced surfers seek out on the North shore. It’s the ideal location for wearing our quick drying, UV sun-protective swimwear to help protect your skin while swimming, paddle boarding, snorkeling, learning “how to” surf, lying on the beach, lounging by the pool, playing with your kids in the waves, hiking or biking around the island. What better way to quickly cool off after so much fun outdoors? I learned early on when I had two young toddlers, that when visiting this island, a good swimsuit was and is a must because of this.

I loved wearing our JOANIE Long Sleeve Swim Bodysuit in Leopard print while bike riding near the beach. I was not only comfortable riding in my swimsuit, but I was also comfortable knowing that my arms and hands were protected from the sun. It was also nice knowing that I didn’t have to change clothes when we wanted to hop in the ocean to cool off.

With many different sun-protective and supportive, not to mention stylish, swimsuit styles to choose from, I think you’ll find (at least) one that you will love wearing on your next beach destination vacation!
